Five Star Thai Narrabeen is a local Thai restaurant bringing authentic Thai flavours to Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Our kitchen is led by Chef Mongkol, whose culinary journey began in Thailand in 1985. After working in professional kitchens in Bangkok and Sydney, he brings decades of experience to every dish we serve.
Today, our focus remains simple — authentic Thai food, quality ingredients and dishes freshly cooked to order for our local community.
Meet Chef Mongkol
From Bangkok to Narrabeen — A Culinary Journey of More Than 40 Years
A lifetime dedicated to Thai cuisine.
Chef Mongkol began his professional culinary journey in Bangkok in 1985. He worked at Pantip Theatre Restaurant before joining The Central Plaza Hotel Bangkok, where he worked as Chef de Partie from 1988 to 1996. After moving to Australia, he continued his career in Sydney, working as a chef at Star of Thailand in Gladesville and later as Head Chef at Thai Diner in Turramurra. Today, Chef Mongkol brings more than four decades of hands-on experience to Five Star Thai Narrabeen — combining traditional Thai flavours, professional kitchen experience and a genuine passion for cooking food people love.
Chef Mongkol’s Journey
From Bangkok kitchens to Sydney’s Northern Beaches
1985 — Bangkok
Began his professional culinary career at Pantip Theatre Restaurant.
1988–1996 — Central Plaza Hotel Bangkok
Worked as Chef de Partie, developing his experience in a professional hotel kitchen.
1997–2003 — Sydney
Continued his career at Star of Thailand in Gladesville.
2004–2005 — Head Chef
Worked as Head Chef at Thai Diner in Turramurra, leading the kitchen and preparing high-quality Thai cuisine.
From Bangkok to Narrabeen
After decades working in professional kitchens in Bangkok and Sydney, Chef Mongkol brought his experience and passion for authentic Thai cooking to Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Today, he leads the kitchen at Five Star Thai Narrabeen, where dishes are freshly cooked to order using the techniques, flavours and experience developed throughout his culinary career.
